Contrary to common misconceptions, the church is not a building or a club but a living organism of individual living stones built together by Christ Himself. Only He can build His church.
And I also say to you that you are Peter [little stone], and on this rock [of the expanding kingdom] I will build My church (Matthew 16:18).
According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 3:10-11).
