Jesus gave us His own supernatural peace as a gift. His peace is not just calmness, tranquility or absence of conflict. His peace is powerful! “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).
When you walk in the peace that God gives, you can’t be controlled by people or circumstances. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. He has perfect peace, has authority to give you peace, and is the Commander of peace. From the place of peace, Jesus could sleep in the boat in a terrible storm, then stand and command the wind and the waves, saying, “Peace, be still!” Peace is victory. Peace has authority. Romans 16:20 assures us that “the God of peace will crush the enemy under your feet.”
Peace is living in the presence of God who is peace Himself. The Hebrew word for peace is shalom. The shalom of God includes wholeness, peace, health and healing, welfare, safety, salvation, deliverance, soundness, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, no injustice, and no pain. Peace is the essence of the abundant life promised by Jesus.
